MOTION FOR TIPPING:
TRAIN STATION Itariri - SAO PAULO
The city of Itariri which is located in the Ribeira Valley, was born in the vicinity of the train station Itariri. This extension of railway line was built by British company Southern Railway São Paulo between the years 1913 and 1915 that made the connection between Santos and Juquiá. In 1927 the Company has owned Sorocabana. In 1971, this extension has FEPASA hands of the company, which in 1981 extended the deadline until Cajati. Unfortunately, in 1997 the passenger was suspended, after long 84 years of service to the population of the coast and the valley of the Ribeira. The line remained active until 2003 in the transport of sulfur from Santos for Cajati until an accident in 2003, when barriers blocking the line and the transport was stopped by the dealership Ferroban.
Since 2003 the building has served as a bazaar, bar and shop. Beside the station was built a playground. Currently the building is serving as a test site of the Municipal Choir "Voices of the Valley." Itariri is a small town of about 20,000 inhabitants, and in 1915 a number of Japanese immigrants settled in the region, there is there a high percentage of descendants Nips.
Counter to the world, Brazil has abandoned the rail, and rail grid of the country is increasingly stagnant, so that goods and people increasingly use road transport. It is hoped that this line abandoned back someday to work with recovery of the line and modern stations. However, the historical importance of the train station Itariri, which gave birth and name the city, it is interesting that the public agencies, city and state, revitalize the train station, giving the public utility as a museum on the train, or a memorial to Japanese immigration.
The important thing is that this is preserved the city was founded in March of Itariri. Today Itariri lives primarily agricultural, with large areas for banana production that supplies the region's markets from Santos and São Paulo. Products derived from banana are also manufactured here and exported.
As in other parts of Brazil and the world's railway stations gave rise to small towns and who later became cities. Itariri and your community must preserve the train station because it is the cornerstone of its existence as a community.
